I am a cognitive scientist building AI systems for mental health.
My main focus at the moment is to lead AI initiatives for mindline.sg, Singapore’s national digital mental health platform, at the MOH Office for Healthcare Transformation (MOHT). My work spans the full arc from research to deployment. I manage a portfolio of projects at the intersection of AI and mental health, exploring how technology can help scale and improve our mental health care systems so that everyone who’s struggling can get timely and appropriate support.
I also work on a few related side quests. I teach AI for Healthcare at the National University of Singapore. I’m also involved with SEACrowd, a non-profit organization working to boost AI performance and inclusion across Southeast Asia. One goal of mine is to help scale digital mental health platforms from Singapore to Indonesia. I have become convinced that regulation and safety are the key barriers to AI deployment in healthcare, so I’m also a Working Group member at Duke-NUS to support the design and publication of relevant ISO standards. Additionally, I remain affiliated with the University of Cambridge as a Visiting Scientist, where my research focuses on developing algorithms for characterizing brain connectivity from MRI scans and understanding how connectivity is altered in depression.
